2 1/2 lb. Spareribs
1 Lemon
1 Onion, chopped
1/2 tsp. Salt
1/8 tsp. Black Pepper



Sauce:
1 tsp. Chili Powder
1 T. Celery Seed or Celery Salt
1/4 c. Brown Sugar
1/4 c. Vinegar
1/4 c. Worcestershire Sauce
1 c. Ketchup
2 c. Water

Cut spareribs into serving size pieces, about 2 or 3 ribs wide. Spread them meaty side up in a large shallow baking pan. Sprinkle lightly with salt and paper. On each piece put one thin slice of lemon. Sprinkle onion generously over all pieces. Bake uncovered at 450º for 45 minutes to brown. While the ribs are browning, combine all the ingredients for the sauce into a small saucepan. Bring to a boil and then set aside until the ribs are ready to be sauced. After browning, pour sauce over the ribs and reduce heat to 350º. Continue roasting for 1 1/2 hours longer. Do not cover but baste with the sauce and turn frequently.
