4 c. all-purpose flour
2 tbsp. baking powder
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. nutmeg
1 c. sugar
1 tsp. salt
1 c. shortening
2 c. buttermilk
Whipped cream
Sliced strawberries, sweetened to taste

Directions:
Directions:
1) Preheat oven to 400ºF.

2) Mix dry ingredients and shortening until mixture is crumbly.

3) Add buttermilk and mix just enough to make sure the dry part is moistened.

4) Spread dough out in a large, flat, greased cake pan (or half the dough recipe in a 9x9 square baking dish).

5) Sprinkle coarse white sugar over top and bake in 400ºF oven for 20 minutes.

6) Serve warm and smothered with sugared berries and slathered with whipped cream.
