1 1/2 cups raisins
1 1/2 cups boiling water
1 cup sugar
1 tbsp shortening
1 egg
1 tsp salt
2 3/4 cups flour
2 tsp soda
1 cup nutmeats (optional)

Directions:
Directions:
Boil together raisins, water and sugar. Let cool before adding rest of ingredients. Bake 45 minutes to one hour in 400 degree oven. Divide into 3 # 2 cans or one loaf if desired before baking, of course.
