1 baked 9 or 10 inch pie shell
3 cups milk
1/2 cup sugar
3 tblp. cornstarch
3 eggs, separated
1 tblp. butter or more
1/2 tsp salt
1 tsp vanilla
1 1/4 cup coconut
3 egg whites
1/3 cup sugar
1/2 tsp. cream of tarter

Directions:
Directions:
Scald 2 cups milk
Combine sugar, salt and cornstarch in bowl
Add remaining cup of milk and beaten egg yolks
Pour into hot milk and stir over med. heat until thick.
Remove from heat and pour into baked shell
Beat egg whites until peaks form,slowly add sugar and cream of tarter
Put on pie, sealing to crust edge and bake until golden brown at 350 F
