2 pounds dates, cut up
12 oz. red cherries
8 oz. green cherries
53 walnut halves
53 pecan halves
45 Brazil nuts, whole
1 tsp. baking powder
1 1/2 cups flour
1 1/2 cups sugar
1/2 tsp. salt
4 large eggs, beaten

Directions:
Directions:
Mix dates and cherries in large bowl. Add Brazil nuts, flour, sugar, baking powder and salt. Mix well. Add beaten eggs. After all mixture is well-blended, add walnuts and pecans. Bake in slow oven, 275º, for 1 1/2 hours. 4 Mini loaf pans or 2 regular-size loaf pans may be used. Place pan of water on lower rack of oven to keep cakes from drying out.

After cakes are cool, they may be wrapped in Cointreau-soaked cheesecloth (bourbon or rum), placed in airtight container and stored for several weeks.
