1 8 oz pkg cream cheese, room temp
2 1/3 C sugar
3 eggs
1/2 cup butter
3/4 cup water
1 1/2 oz unsweetened chocolate
2 C flour
1/2 C sour cream
1 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp salt
1 6 oz pkg semi-sweet chocolate chips (mini-preferred)

Preheat oven to 375ºF

Combine softened cream cheese with 1/3 C sugar. Add 1 egg. Mix well. Set aside. Combine butter, water, and chocolate in saucepan. Bring to a boil. Remove from heat. Stir in combined flour and 2 C sugar. Add 2 eggs, sour cream, baking soda, and salt. Mix well. Pour into greased and floured 10"x15" pan. Spoon cream cheese mixture over chocolate batter. Cut through batter with a knife several times for marble effect. Sprinkle with chocolate pieces. Bake for 25-30 minutes.

Note: A 9"x13" pan can be used here. Just increase the time a few minutes to adjust.

In elementary school, students were expected to bring their own treats on or near their birthday. This was a favorite. Until Mississippi Mud that is.
