12 Tbs. (1 1/2 sticks) unsalted butter, at room temperature
2 c. sugar
4 eggs, at room temperature
2/3 c. sour cream, at room temperature
1 tsp. vanilla
1 lemon, zested
2 c. all-purpose flour
1/4 c. cornstarch
3/4 tsp. kosher salt
3.4 tsp. baking soda

Topping:
1-8 oz. softened cream cheese
3 3/4 c. (1 box) powdered sugar
2 eggs, well-beaten

Directions:

Preheat oven to 350º F. Grease a 9x13 inch baking pan.
Cream the butter and sugar in the bowl of an electric mixer until light and fluffy. Add the eggs, 1 at a time, then the sour cream, vanilla, and lemon zest, scraping down the bowl as needed. Mix well. Sift together the flour, cornstarch, salt, and baking soda. Slowly add the flour mixture to the butter mixture and stir just until smooth. Pour the batter evenly into the prepared pan.
Mix topping ingredients and spread on top of the batter.
Bake for 30-35 mins and cool before removing from the pan.

Instead of making the cake layer from scratch, use a yellow box cake (without pudding) mixed with 1 stick melted butter and 2 beaten eggs (nothing else) - it makes this dessert super fast and easy!
