3/4 cup shortening
1 cup sugar
1 egg
1/4 cup molasses
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. soda
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1/4 ginger
2 1/4 cup flour
1 1/2 cup seedless raisins
3 tbsp sugar

Directions:
In large bowl beat shortening at high speed until creamy. Gradually beat in 1 cup sugar until light and fluffy. Add egg - beat until blended. At medium speed blend in molasses. Sift flour with soda, slat, and spices. At low speed gradually beat in flour mixture. Mix in raisins.
Turn dough onto sheet of foil - wrap - refrigerate 1 - 2 hours.
Heat oven to 350 degrees. Shape into 1 1/4 inch balls. Roll in sugar. Place 2 inches apart on baking sheet. Bake 6 to 8 minutes until surface in crackled.
