4 Ancho Chilies
3 New Mexico Chilies
3-5 Chilies De Arbol
2 T. Cumin Seed (Toasted)
2 T. Garlic Powder
2 t. Ground Mexican Oregano

Directions:
Directions:
Heat oven to 300º.

Remove seeds from chilies and flatten. Place on a cookie sheet and cook 4-5 minutes, remove from oven and break off the dried pieces. Return pieces that still need drying and repeat until all the chilies are dried. Put all ingredients into a blender and pulse until its a fine powder.

Our family loves Grandma Brand Chili Powder. They went out of business and we have not found a good substitute. This recipe is very close to Grandma's Brand.
