Ingredients:
Ingredients:
3 c. flour (sifted)
3 tsp. baking powder (omit if using self-rising flour)
1 tsp. salt (omit if using self-rising flour)
1/4 c. sugar
1 (12) oz. can of beer
1/2 c. melted butter (1/4 cup will do just fine)

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
Mix dry ingredients and beer.
Pour batter into greased loaf pan.
Pour melted butter over mixture.
Bake 1 hour and remove from pan and cool for at least 15 minutes. (I cooled first and then removed the loaf and it came out easily).

This recipe makes a very hearty bread with a crunchy, buttered crust. If you prefer a softer crust, mix the butter into the batter instead of pouring it on top.

BE SURE TO SIFT THE FLOUR or you will end up with a hard biscuit!

Charlie couldn't get enough of this bread. Pouring the butter on top also gave it a nice salty touch (using salted butter, of course). Great with soups, salads and chili.
