1/2 cup butter or margarine
1 cup granulated sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla
2 eggs
2 1-ounce squares unsweetened chocolate, melted
1/2 cup sifted all-purpose flour
1/2 cup chopped California walnuts

Directions:
Directions:
Cream first 3 ingredients. Add eggs; beat well. Blend in chocolate, then stir in flour and nuts. Bake in greased 8x8x2-inch pan at 325 degrees for 30 to 35 minutes. Cool. Frost with fudge frosting and top with nut halves, or sift confectioners' sugar over top.

Fudge Frosting: Melt 1/2 of a 1-ounce square unsweetened chocolate with 1 table soon butter or margarine and 2 tablespoons milk over very low heat; stir constantly. Beat in 3/4 cup sifted confectioners' sugar.
