Unbaked 9" pie shell
1/4 cup butter or margarine
1/2 cup sugar
1/2 tsp cinnamon
1/4 tsp cloves
1/4 tsp salt
1 cup dark corn syrup
3 eggs
1 cup quick cooking rolled oats

Directions:
Directions:
Cream together butter and sugar.
Add in syrup.
Add eggs, 1 at a time, stirring after each addition until blended.
Stir in rolled oats.
Pour into pie shell and bake at 350º.
for 50 minutes or until knife inserted in center of pie comes out clean.

Personal Notes:
During baking the oatmeal forms a chewy, "nutty" crust on top. This pie is rich and delicately spiced.
In the depression years when pecans were out of the price range of most people, the oatmeal served as a substitute in the much loved southern pecan pie.
