one can of lye
1 qt. water
2 1/2 qts. (6 lbs) melted grease
1/2 c. ammonia
4 T. borax
1 tsp. Lysol (optional)

Directions:
Directions:
Dissolve lye in water. Stir until dissolved then let set until lukewarm. Pour melted grease into lye solution stirring constantly. Add ammonia and borax. Stir until thick, then pour into box or pan lined with damp cloth. When cool enough, cut into bars and let set 3 or 4 days. Add a teaspoon of Lysol if you wish to make soap disinfectant.
