4 C Flour
8 tsp Baking Powder
2 1/4 tsp Salt
1/2 C Shortening
2 C Milk

Directions:
Directions:
Mix together flour, baking powder and salt. Cut in shortening until mixture is the consistency of coarse cornmeal. Make a well in the center of the flour mixture. Slowly pour in the milk, tossing and mixing by hand until all the milk is added. Knead lightly for a few minutes. Pat or roll out to about 1/2 inch. Cut dough with a floured 2 inch biscuit cutter or juice glass. Place on ungreased baking sheet. Bake at 450 degrees for 12 - 15 minutes.


Variations - add chopped cheddar cheese, pepperoni, jalapenos or green olives for a savory taste or small chunks of peeled apple and cinnamon sugar for a sweet treat.
