1 c. butter, softened
2 c. flour
1 c. packed brown sugar
1 tsp. vanilla
1 egg yolk
1/4 tsp. salt
12 oz. pkg. chocolate chips
1 c. pecans or walnuts, chopped finely

Directions:
Directions:
Beat butter for 30 seconds; add brown sugar and beat until fluffy. Add egg yolk and vanilla and beat well. Gradually add flour, beating constantly.

Press evenly in an ungreased 10x15x1-inch baking pan. Bake at 350 F. for 15-18 minutes.

Immediately sprinkle chocolate pieces over top and let stand until softened; then spread evenly. Sprinkle with finely chopped nuts. Cut into squares while still warm.

What a treat to find these leftover from bridge club! These were almost as good as the English Toffee we would get at Cock Robin at Christmas time.
