Ingredients:
Ingredients:
3 cups warm water
1 tablespoon white sugar
2/3 cup white sugar
3 (.25 ounce) envelopes active dry yeast
1/4 cup milk
2 eggs
1 tablespoon salt
10 cups all-purpose flour
1/4 cup shortening
1/4 cup butter, melted

Directions:
Directions:
Place 1 T sugar and warm water in a cup and dissolve. Sprinkle yeast over top and let sit for 5 to 10 minutes to proof. When it begins to foam slightly, combine egg, salt and milk. Place ingredients in a bread machine as follows: flour, egg mixture, yeast mixture. Use dough only setting.

After first rise remove dough and put into a large bowl. Add 1/4 melted butter and work into the dough. It will only cover the outside well. Roll out to an inch thick, cut into two inch squares and roll each into a ball, or for a less uniform roll pinch off and roll into balls by hand. Place one inch apart in a buttered baking dish. I like to use cake pans. Let rise until they have doubled in size. The rolls will rise more as they bake.

Preheat oven to 400 degrees and bake for 12 minutes.

If you wish to freeze a batch cook for 10 minutes and let cool before placing in plastic bags and freezing. Remove from the freezer and put them directly into a 400 degree oven for 5 to 7 minutes. Watch closely to keep from burning.

Personal Notes:
This is my grandmother's recipe and I warn you that it is sinful bread. It feeds a lot and I generally cut this recipe into a third and even then I freeze two cake pan batches. Of course, if the whole family is visiting the entire recipe is used. Enjoy.
