German Chocolate Cake Recipe

1 pkg Baker's German Sweet Chocolate 1 tsp vanilla
1/2 cup boiling water 2 1/2 cups sifted cake flour
1 cup butter or margarine 1tsp soda
2 cups sugar 1/2 tsp salt
4 egg yolks unbeaten 4 egg whites stiffly beaten
1 cup buttermilk

Melt chocolate over 1/2 cup boiling water. Cool. Cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Add egg yolks one at a time, beating after each. Add vanilla and chocolate, mix until blended. Sift flour , soda and salt. Alternately add dry ingredients and buttermilk to chocolate mixture, beating after each addition until batter is smooth. Fold in egg whites. Pour into 3 8 or 9 inch prepared round pans. Bake 30 to 40 minutes at 350 degrees.

Coconut-Pecan Frosting
1 can (12 oz) evaporated milk
1 1/2 cup sugar
3/4 cup (1 1/2 sticks) butter or margarine
4 egg yolks beaten
1 1/2 tsp vanilla
1 pkg (7oz) Baker's Angel Flake Coconut
1 1/2 cup chopped pecans

Mix milk, sugar, margarine, egg yolks and vanilla in large saucepan. Cook and stir on medium heat about 12 minutes or until thickend and golden-brown. Remove from heat.
Stir in coconut and pecans. Cool to room temperature and of spreading consistency.
