2 2/3 cups sugar
2/3 vegetable shortening
4 eggs
2/3 cup water
3 1/2 cups flour
1/2 tsp cloves
1 tsp cinnamon
1 tsp salt
1 tsp baking powder
2 tsp baking soda
2\3 cup nuts, optional
2 cups fruit, no more (grated apples, shredded coconut, mashed banana, 1 1/2 cups applesauce & 1/2 cup pineapple, whole cranberries, grated zucchini, etc.)

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven to 350º. Combine sugar and shortening. Add eggs and water, then fruit. Combine all dry ingredients and add to batter. Spray all wide mouth pint jars inside with baking spray (it has flour in it). Pour 1 cup batter into each jar. Place in oven on baking sheet. Leave space between jars to allow,even browning. Bake 45 minutes or until toothpick comes out clean.,remove from oven, one at a time and wipe tops and seal quickly. Store in a cool dry place.,
