Notes: This recipe honors my dear, sweet neighbor, Bubba. This was one of the recipes she often used to make the cookies she would serve to anyone that stopped by for some conversation and home cooking. Bubba and my mother-in-law, Mary Shemony, never met face to face, but had so very much in common. My favorite memories of both of these strong, awesome women include sitting at the table and sharing the food that they had so lovingly prepared.
