1/2 cup sugar
1 tbsp. cornstarch
1/4 tsp. ground cinnamon
4 cups of sliced peaches
1 tsp. lemon juice
3 tbsp. shortening
1 cup flour
1 tbsp. sugar
1 1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 cup milk

Directions:

Heat oven to 400º
Mix 1/2 cup sugar,cornstarch, and cinnamon in 2-qt. saucepan, stir in peaches and lemon juice. Cook,stirring all the time,until mixture thickened. Pour into ungreased 2 -qt. casserole. Cut shortening into flour,1 tbsp. sugar and the baking powder, and salt,until mixture resembles fine crumbs,stir in milk. Drop dough by spoonfuls on peach mixture.
Bake until golden brown, 25 to 30 minutes.
