4 tsp baking powder
2 tsp melted shortening
1 1/2 cups milk
1 cup raisins (boil in water, pour water off)

Drop by small spoonsful in deep, hot, fat as for doughnuts.

We had these at Christmas. My friend Suzette's mother, Annie Ganzeveld, would make them. My dad (Martin) loved them. Annie Ganzeveld's mother, who died when she was young, was a girlhood friend of Grandma Oostenink (Cynthia K. Oostenink). They went to school together.
