1 Stick Butter
1/2 C. Shortening
2 C. Sugar
1 C. Buttermilk
1-1/2 C. Coconut
5 Egg Whites, beaten stiff
5 Egg Yolks
2 cups Flour
1 tsp. Baking Soda
1 tsp. Vanilla
1 cup Pecans, chopped

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven to 325º.
Cream butter and shortening, add sugar and beat until smooth. Add egg yolks and beat well. Combine flour and soda, add to creamed mixture. Add buttermilk, vanilla, coconut and pecans, fold in stiff egg whites. Pour into 3 greased and floured 8" pans.
Bake for 25 minutes. Cool before icing.
