1/2 cup lard
1 cup boiling water
1 can evaporated milk
3 pkg yeast
1/2 cup warm water
2 eggs
8 cups flour
1/2 cup sugar
2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon nutmeg

Directions:
Directions:
Dissolve lard in the boiling water. Add the evaporated milk. Let cool some.
Add yeast to warm water. Add 2 eggs and mix together.
Mix flour, sugar, salt, and nutmeg. Combine all ingredients together.
On a floured counter top, kneed for about 5 min. Cover and let rest about 10 min. Roll out until they are about 1/4 inch thick. Cut into 1 inch strips. Lay out uncovered until they are about doubled in size. Deep fat fry until golden brown and glaze with a powdered sugar/water mixture when cooled a bit.

Another childhood food that my mom made. On Saturday mornings she would make them and we would deliver to business places in Melvin for their morning coffee.
