1 cup Dates
1 tsp. Baking soda
3/4 cup boiling water
1 egg (yolk and white separated)
3/4 cup brown sugar
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. vanilla
1 1/2 cups flour
1 tsp Baking powder
1/2 cup chopped nuts

Directions:
Directions:
Sprinkle dates with soda,
Pour boiling water over the mixture
Let stand until cool
In bowl beat egg yolk add sugar gradually
add vanilla
Combine with date mixture
Add flour, baking powder and salt
Mix well
Add nuts
Pour into greased bread pan
Put into 350 oven about 1 hour till toothpick comes out dry
cool
