Ingredients:
2 c. flour
3/4 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1/4 c. Crisco
3/4 c. hot water

Directions:
Directions:
Stir together dry ingredients. Combine melted shortening and hot water. Add to dry mixture and stir together to make a soft dough. If the dough is too sticky you may need to add a bit more flour; if it's too dry, add a bit more water. Knead on a floured surface until the dough is smooth. Divide into eight equal pieces. Shape each piece into a ball and then roll on a floured surface with a rolling pin until the tortilla is about 10-11 inches in diameter. Bake on a hot, ungreased griddle, flipping when several bubbles appear. The bubbles should form brown spots on the second side. Total "baking" time is only about one half minute. Stack tortillas on a plate or platter. Best if eaten right away.

There is no comparison to store bought tortillas. You will not be disappointed if you take the time and make them from scratch!
