3/4 c. shortening (part butter preferred)
2 1/4 c. sugar
3 eggs
1 1/2 c. raisins (soaked in hot water for 10 minutes)
1 1/2 c. unsweetened applesauce"

3 c. all-purpose flour
3/4 tsp. salt
1 1/2 tsp. cinnamon
3/4 tsp. nutmeg
1/3 tsp. cloves
1 1/2 tsp. baking powder
1 1/2 tsp. baking soda

Directions:
Directions:
Cream shortening and sugar, beat in eggs one at a time, cream well.
Add apple sauce alternately with dry ingredients.
Scrape batter into two large loaf pans well greased or lined with waxed paper on bottom.
Bake at 350' for about an hour.
