1 tbsp. vinegar
1 c. milk
2 c. all purpose flour
3 tbsp. sugar
1 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/3 c. shortening
1/2 c. raisins
1 egg yolk - beaten

Directions:
Directions:
Combine vinegar and milk and set aside . In separate bowl, combine flour, sugar, salt, and baking soda. Cut in shortening until mixture looks like coarse crumbs. Stir in raisins. Add milk to dry ingredients, stir until well mixed;
Turn out on floured board, knead lightly. Place on ungreased cookie sheet. Roll to 1/2" thick circle. Cut into 8, but do not separate. Brush with egg yolk. Sprinkle with sugar. Bake at 450ºF for 12-15 minutes.
