2 tbsp. sugar
2 tsp. salt
2 tbsp. shortening
Warm 1 c. water & 1 c milk combined
2 tbsp. cooking molasses (in milk)
2 c. whole wheat flour
2 c. all-purpose flour
1 c. rolled oats
1-2 tbsp. flax seed (optional)
2 tsp. instant yeast

Directions:
Directions:
Put all ingredients in a bread machine in order given. Put on dough setting.

By hand- put in a large bowl and work by hand into a ball. Knead until smooth, not sticky. Turn out dough after it has risen and divide in half. Let rest for a few minutes. Roll out like a jelly roll. Place in two bread of loaf pans. Let rise, about 1 hr. Bake at 400ºF for 25 minutes.
