1/3 cup cocoa
1/4 cup butter
1/2 cup hot water
1/2 cup sour milk (vinegar in milk to sour)
1 cup sugar
1 cup flour
1 tsp vanilla
1 egg
1 tsp baking soda
ICING
regular butter icing recipe with 1/2 butter and 1/2 peanut butter

Directions:
Directions:
Mix cocoa, butter and hot water to melt cocoa.
Add sour milk and baking soda.
Add sugar and beat well.
Egg in last gives a shine to cake top if not using icing.

Bake @ 350º in 8" x 8" pan for 35 - 40 minutes.
*Batter will be very thin. Ice with peanut butter icing.

Grandma made this for her family so its very old.
Was very popular during depression years.
Pastor Paul Juss used to make this recipe for his family when he was a boy. Very excited to taste it again.
Laura Stelly from Beaumont, Texas gave me a daisy design pan 2001 that holds this recipe doubled. Sprinkle with icing sugar.
