12 ozs. pitted dates, chopped
1/2 C. water
1/2 C. sugar
1/2 tsp. salt
Juice of 1 lemon
1 C. nut meats
1 1/2 C. uncooked rolled oats
1 C. sifted flour
3/4 C. dark brown sugar
1/2 C. butter
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/8 tsp. salt

Directions:
Directions:
Mix together the dates, water, 1/2 C. sugar, 1/8 tsp. salt and lemon juice. Cook until dates have absorbed liquid, approximately 3-5 minutes. Cool. Add nuts. Mix together oatmeal, flour, brown sugar, butter, baking soda and 1/8 tsp. salt until mixture resembles crumbs. Place 2/3 of mixture in a greased pan. Press over bottom and up sides of pan. Cover with the date mixture, and sprinkle remaining crumbs over top, pressing lightly. Bake at 400 degrees 25-30 minutes.
