2 1/4 Cups Flour
1 tsp. Ginger
1 tsp. Cinnamon
1/4 tsp. Salt
2 tsp. Baking Soda
2 TBsp. Hot Water
1/2 Cup Shortening (Margarine), softened
1/2 Cup White Sugar
1/2 Cup Molasses (dark, full flavored)
1 Egg
6 TBsp Cold Water
1/2 Cup Raisins

Preheat Oven to 400º

1. Sift together flour, ginger, cinnamon & salt. Set aside.

2. Dissolve baking soda in hot water. Mix in shortening (or margarine), sugar, molasses & egg, beat until creamy.

3. Mix in flour mixture alternately with cold water. Mix in baking soda & water, and raisins.

4. Drop by rounded teaspoonful, 2" apart onto greased cookie sheet.

5. Bake for 12 minutes.
