2 cups milk, scalded
1/2 cups butter
1 pkg. dry yeast
1/2 cup sugar
1 tbsp. salt
1 egg, slightly beaten
5-6 cups plain flour

Directions:
Directions:
Melt butter in scalded milk. Allow to cool slightly. Add yeast, sugar, salt and egg. Beat together until well mixed. Place mixture in large electric mixer bowl. Add flour, 1/2 cup at a time, beating well after each addition. Continue adding flour as long as mixer can handle it. Remove from mixer; add flour by hand until mixture is to the point of being slightly too sticky to handle. Let rise in bowl until doubled in size. Punch down, grease top, tightly cover and refrigerate. When chilled, shape dough into desired form, let rise and bake at 375º for 12-15 minutes or until slightly brown on top.
