Ingredients:
Ingredients:
Apple portion:
6 cups diced cooking apples (granny smith is a recommended apple type)
1 cup sugar
3 Tablespoons flour
½ teaspoon cinnamon
Mix and have sit while you make your pie crust and crumb mixture

Pie Crust:
1 ½ cups flour
½ tsp salt
½ cup Crisco
Mix above to crumbly mixture and THEN add COLD water until moist enough to roll out (~1/4 – ½ cup). To have a flaky pie crust it is important that you do not ‘over mix.’

Crumb topping:
1 ‘scant’ cup of flour ☺
½ cup brown sugar (packed vs. ‘scant’)
7 tablespoons oleo (the stick minus 1 tablespoon) – do not soften in advance.
Mix the flour and brown sugar thoroughly then add the oleo and ‘fork it’ to make as crumbly as possible. Don’t worry ,you will still have ‘loose sand,’ that’s OK!

Directions:
Directions:
Put apple mixture in pie crust, put crumb topping over the top of apples (don’t forget the edges...better to include the crust then to miss the apples on edge being covered by topping) and Bake at 425 for 10 minutes and then 375 for 30 minutes!
(You can use same recipe for 2 crust apple pie but put 1 Tablespoon butter cut up over top of apple mixture and then put your 2nd crust on top. The butter keeps the top crust ‘uniform’ vs. ‘hilly.’)
