1 c. shortening
2 1/2 c. white sugar (save 1/2 c.)
4 eggs
Grated rind of 2 lemons
2 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. salt
1 c. milk
Juice of 2 lemons

Directions:
Directions:
Cream shortening and 2 cups sugar. Add eggs beating well. Add dry ingredients and milk. Mix gently. Pour into greased paper lined loaf pans. Bake 350º for 40-45 minutes or until toothpick comes out clean. Combine lemon juice and sugar. Spoon over bread. Cool, lift from pan and remove paper.
