2/3 cup Heinz Ketchup
cornstarch
1/2 cup pineapple juice
1 cup pineapple chunks
1 cup green pepper
2 1/4 cups sugar
1 1/3 cups water
1 cup distilled white vinegar

Batter for the meat

1/8 teaspoon salt
1 1/4 teaspoons sugar
2 tablespoons flour
2 teaspoons cornstarch
1 egg

Directions:
Directions:
1. Make the sweet and sour gravy first. Combine water and sugar heat until the sugar is dissolved.
2. Add ketchup, and pineapple juice bring to a full boil
3. Thicken with corn starch mixed in small amount of water.
4. Make thick so adding vinegar will not become too thin)
5. Add vinegar (Do not boil after adding vinegar}
6. Set aside.
7. Add pineapple chunks, and green pepper just before serving.
8. Prepare the pork or chicken.
9. Mix batter ingredient's in proportions enough to cover pork on all sides.
10. Add 1/2 inch cubed fat free meat in bowl when meat is covered on all sides and place individually into deep fat fryer.
11. Fry to a light brown color. Cover with sweet & sour gravy.
12. Add pineapple & green pepper chunks.
13. Serve over white rice.

You can use ketchup instead.
Adjust cornstarch - less for softer batter, more for crisp batter.
Do not boil the gravy after adding the vinegar.
Old cooking oil will make batter very puffy, use fresh peanut oil.
Let the pork simmer in some water and then add the sauce. This gives it a homemade look.
