1/2 cup butter (one stick)
1 cup white sugar
2 eggs, unbeaten
1/2 cup flour
2 squares of unsweetened baking chocolate
1/3 cup chopped nuts
1/2 tsp vanillla

Directions:
Directions:
Cream butter and sugar, add eggs, beat well. Add sifted flour and salt (I stir together on top of the wet mixture to save on bowls). Add melted chocolate, nuts and vanilla.
Bake at 325º in a square glass pan or 350º in a metal pan for 25 to 30 min. (this temperature difference is true for all cooking with glass and metal). Test by inserting a toothpick in the middle.

These are the best brownies ever. Light and fluffy with awesome brownie chewiness. No need for icing. My Aunt Sylva probably wrote this out for my mother in the 1970's after making them for her own 4 children 100's of times. I just found it tucked in my mother's old cookbook last week, made them and then 4 of us devoured most of them within an hour.
