1 lb potatoes, peeled and thinly sliced
1 lb carrots or rutabaga, peeled and thinly sliced
2 cups milk
½ cup heavy cream
½ tsp nutmeg
½ cup grated Parmesan
¼ cup fresh marjoram, chopped

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven to 400ºF. Butter a shallow soufflé dish or casserole dish. Arrange the potatoes and carrots in the dish in alternating overlapping rows. Combine remaining ingredients and mix well. Pour over the potatoes and carrots until they are just covered and bake for about 1 hour uncovered.
* The dish should be no more than 3" deep. If it is deeper, allow 20-25 minutes extra cooking time.
