1 c. butter
3/4 c. white sugar
3/4 c. brown sugar
2 large eggs
1 tsp. vanilla
1 1/2 c. sifted whole wheat flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. salt
2 cups chocolate chips
2 cups quick cooking rolled oats
1 cup chopped walnuts (optional)

Directions:
Directions:
Cream butter with sugars. Add eggs and vanilla, mix well. Combine dry ingredients. Add to butter mixture and mix. Stir in chocolate chips, rolled oats and walnuts (if using). Drop by teaspoonfuls onto greased cookie sheets, about 1 inch apart. Bake in a 375º oven fro 8 to 10 minutes.

This cookie recipe came from my mother, Joyce Godden. It is a family favourite and we often give a batch of these cookies to friends when they need a lift or just as a gift. They've become known as "Will's Cookies" because he's the one who usually bakes them. We don't usually include the walnuts.
