2 Cups Flour
1 Teaspoon Vanilla
1 Teaspoon Baking Powder
1 Cup Canned Applesauce
1 Teaspoon Pumpkin Pie Spice
½ Teaspoon Baking Soda
1 Cup Currants
½ Teaspoon Salt
1 Cup Coarsely broken walnuts
½ Cup (1 Stick) Butter
1 Cup firmly packed Brown Sugar
1 Egg

Directions:
Directions:
Sift together flour, baking powder, spice, soda and salt.
Cream butter with brown sugar until fluffy in a large bowl. Beat in egg and vanilla. Sift in flour mixture, adding alternately with applesauce, blend well. Stir in currants and nuts.

Drop dough ¼ cupful at a time 6” apart on greased large cookie sheets, spread into 3” rounds.
Bake at 350 degrees for 15 minutes.
Makes 1 ½ doz. 4” cookies.
