Requires Large Pot

1 1/2 lbs. boiled shrimp
1 1/2 cup green onions
1 1/2 cups celery
1 cup Green Pepper (add lemon juice)
1/4 cup parsley
2 buds garlic
1 #2 can tomatoes
1 #2 can okra
1 /2 cup shortening
1 cup flour
2 Tbsp.. Each - File, Salt, Pepper, Cayenne

Directions:
Directions:
Heat shortening in Dutch kettle, add flour and brown.
Keep stirring until dark brown, add 1/2 gallon of hot water and simmer until liquid is smooth.

Then add onions, celery, green peppers, parsley & garlic. Simmer until vegetables are done.
Then add okra, tomatoes, and shrimp. Simmer until thick.
After turning off fire, add file.

Serve over rice.
