Directions:
Make the following crust (or your own favorite recipe-I have nothing against a store bought package if that works for you)
In a food processor place 2 cups flour, 1 T sugar, 1 tsp salt and pulse until well blended.
Chill 3/4 cup Crisco until cold and then add to flour and pulse until it looks like pebbles.
Slowly add 4-5 T cold ice water and pulse until it come together and pulls away from the sides.
Wrap in plastic and chill for at least 30 minutes.
When ready, roll out bottom on floured surface and place in a pie pan.
Mix apples, flour, sugar, a pinch of salt and cinnamon and let sit for 10 to 15 minutes until it is a bit liquid. Melt butter and add hot water to make 1/2 cup and pour over apples.
Top with crust and crimp edges. Brush with egg wash and cut 5 slits in top. you can also sprinkle a little sugar if you like.
Bake at 425º F for about 15 minutes then lower the oven temperature to 350 and continue baking for another 45 minutes or until juices are bubbly and apples are tender.

This is a favorite in our house and with almost all who have tasted the pie-not too sweet and great with some vanilla ice cream.
