Ingredients:
1 can lye
1 qt. water
2 qt. grease

Directions:
Mix lye and water. Let set until lukewarm. Melt grease and have cooled to about same temperature as lye mix. Pour together and stir until thick. Pour into a box or pan to cool. Cut into bars.

Note: Doesn't it sound simple in the recipe? Our closest neighbor, Viola Schulz, still made batches of soap, regularly, when Cliff and I married in 1973. She packed several chunks as part of a gift basket for our new home--first time Cliff had seen the stuff. -BAS
