1 3/4 c. sifted all-purpose flour
1/4 tsp. salt
1 1/2 c. granulated sugar
5 egg yolks
6 T. fresh orange juice
1 T. freshly grated orange peel
Confectioner's sugar

Directions:
In a large bowl let egg whites warm to room temperature-about 1 hour. Sift flour with salt. Set aside. With mixer at medium speed beat egg whites until foamy Gradually add1/2 cup of granulated sugar. Combine, beating until stiff peaks form. Set aside. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Beat egg yolks until very thick (about 3 min.) Gradually beat in remaining 1 c. sugar. Beat until smooth. At low sped blend flour mixture and orange juice alternately into egg-yolk mixture, beginning and ending with flour. Add orange peel. Fold egg yolk mixture gently into whites. Pour batter into an ungreased Kugelhopf or tubepan. Bake 50 to 55 minutes in Kugelhopf pan or 35-40 minutes in tube pan. Invert over bottle. Cool. Sift confectioner's sugar over cake.
