1 c. sugar
1/2 t. cinnamon
1/2 t. mace
1/2 c. chopped nuts
4 c. thinly sliced tart apples
1/3 c. butter, melted
1 extra large egg, beaten
1 c. sugar
1 c. flour
1 tsp. baking powder
1/4 t. salt
1/2 c. whole milk
Whipping cream

Directions:
Directions:
Mix 1/2 c. sugar, spices, and 1/4 c. nuts together.
Place apples in bottom of greased 9" x 13" baking dish. Sprinkle with spices, 1/2 c. sugar, and 1/4 c. nuts.
Mix together flour, sugar, salt and baking powder.
Combine butter, egg, milk.
Add dry ingredients to liquid all at once and mix till smooth.
Pour over apples.
Sprinkle with remaining 1/4 c. nuts.
Bake at 325 F about 50 minutes or until done.
Serve warm with whipped cream or ice cream.
When cold it is excellent for lunch boxes.
