Cake:

3/4 cup shortening
1 cup sugar
1 egg
1 cup milk
1 tsp salt
3 tsp baking powder
1 1/4 cup flour

Filling:

3/4 - 1 quart of blackberries
1/2 cup flour
1 3/4 cup sugar
1/4 tsp salt

Filling:

Mash and sieve the blackberries (to remove the seeds)
mix with remaining ingredient's and spread in a greased 13x9 cake pan.

Cake:

Mix ingredients well and spread on top of berries.

Bake at 350º until cake browns and toothpick comes out clean.
