2 c. boiling water
2 Tbs. baking soda
16 oz. dates, or date and raisin combination
1 c. butter
2 c. sugar
4 extra large eggs
1 qt. buttermilk
1 tsp, salt
5 c. flour, half wheat and white
4 c. 100% Bran Buds or All Bran cereal
2 c. 40% Bran Flakes, Raisin Bran
1 c. chopped nuts

Directions:
Directions:
Pour boiling water over soda and dates in large bowl. Set aside to cool.
Sift dry ingredients in separate bowl and set aside.
In extra large bowl, beat butter and sugar.
Add beaten eggs and buttermilk.
Mix in salt and flour carefully.
Slowly mix in Soda/date water.
Fold in Bran Buds or All Bran cereal.
Stir in flaked cereal and nuts just until combined.
Spoon dough into greased muffin tins, level with tin.
Bake at 350º for 15-20 minutes
Cool on wire rack.
Serve with butter, honey, jam, etc.

Batter may be stored in refrigerator in covered container up to 3 months and/or bake a small batch as desired.
Do not stir mixture again.
