Cake:
1 1/2 c flour
3/4 c firmly packed brown sugar
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. vanilla
1 c apple butter
1 egg
1/2 c chopped dates or raisins

Topping:
1/4 c sugar
1/4 c firmly packed brown sugar
1/4 c flour
1/4 tsp. cinnamon
1/4 tsp. nutmeg
1/4 c softened butter or margarine
1/2 c chopped nuts

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven to 350.
Generously grease the bottom of a 9 inch square pan. Melt 1/2 c butter in saucepan. Combine all cake ingredients with butter in saucepan; mix well. Pour batter into greased pan.
Combine all topping ingredients in mixing bowl. Sprinkle over cake batter.

Bake at 350 for 40-45 minutes until top springs back when touched lightly in center.
