Ingredients:
1 1/4 c. sugar
1 c. butter flavor shortening
2 eggs
1/4 c. light corn syrup
1 T. vanilla
3 c. all purpose flour
3/4 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven to 375ºF. Combine sugar and butter flavored shortening in a large bowl. Beat at Medium speed with an electric mixer until well blended. Add eggs, syrup, and vanilla. Beat until well blended and fluffy. Combine flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Add gradually to creamed mixture on Low speed. Mix until well blended. Divide dough into thirds. Shape each third into a long roll about 1 1/2 inches thick on a section of wax paper. Completely wrap the roll in wax paper and refrigerate for at least an hour. Repeat for the other two dough parts. After chilling, unwrap the wax paper from one roll of cookie dough. Using a sharp knife, cut thru the dough about every 1/2-3/4 inch. Place the slices two inches apart on an ungreased cookie sheet or use parchment paper to line the cookie sheets. Sprinkle with granulated sugar, or colored sugar crystals, or cinnamon, or chocolate chips, or nuts, or icing. Bake one baking sheet at a time for 5-9 minutes. DO NOT OVERBAKE. Makes 3-4 dozen cookies. Enjoy!
