2 c milk (can use up to 1/2 c white wine in place of milk)
3 TB cornstarch
2 tsp dry mustard
1 TB Worcestershire
1 clove garlic, crushed
6 c shredded cheese (I.e. cheddar, or a mix of gruyere, Emmental, Gorgonzola)

Directions:

Stir together everything but the cheese. Cook, stirring constantly, until almost boiling (i.e. tiny bubbles are just starting to break the surface). Gradually stir in cheese. When the cheese is melted, pour it into a warm fondue pot. Serve immediately.
