1/2 C butter
1 1/2 C sugar
2 eggs
2 T cocoa
2 oz red food coloring
1 tsp salt
1 C buttermilk
1 T vanilla
2 oz water
1 tsp baking soda
1 tsp vinegar

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven to 350º.
Cream butter and sugar until fluffy.
Add eggs; beat well.
Make a paste of cocoa and food coloring.
Add to sugar mixture.
Sift flour and salt.
Add to batter alternately with buttermilk, vanilla and water. Add soda and blend well.
Stir in vinegar gently, do not beat.Pour into 2 round cake pans.
Bake 30min.
Cool, split layers and frost.
